Who doesn't love a small appliance that saves you time?! When you are a busy mom, cooking, cleaning, and keeping the family running smoothly is a major task.  One of the best things you can do for yourself as a busy mom is to make sure you are using the right tools to increase your efficiency and make some of your tasks easier.

Today, I am going to share some of my favorite tools I use around the house to make my life easier. So, without further ado, let’s get started

PANINI PRESS – This kitchen gadget is my go to small appliance for cooking grilled cheese sandwiches.  It cooks both sides of the sandwich at the same time, so there’s no need to flip the sandwiches like when you cook them in a frying pan.  It can cook multiple sandwiches at once, which saves time.  I can have my girls’ lunches ready at the same time.  And it cooks way faster than the traditional frying method, too!  Clean up is a breeze – just wipe down and you are good to go.  Total time saver! This is the one I use.

BREAD MACHINE – I love my bread machine.  I use it to cook bread, but I also use the dough cycle frequently. Making homemade pizza for dinner?  No problem, just set it on the dough cycle and it’s ready to roll out when you’re ready to make the pizza.  The model I use also has a “super rapid cycle”, which cooks a wonderful loaf if just 59 minutes!  So, when you were planning on making fresh bread for dinner, then forgot, you can still have it relatively quickly if you start it right when you are going to start cooking dinner.  This is the one I use.  This is the one I WANT.

I recently had to go gluten free for health reasons, so I will be purchasing a new bread machine. The Zorushi Virtuoso has a gluten free setting as well as a custom setting, so that will be my next small appliance purchase.  I bought one for my mother for Christmas a few years ago and it’s awesome! So, if you are going to be doing frequent baking, then I definitely recommend the Zorushi.  It also makes a horizontal loaf (so it resembles a regular, store bought loaf) as opposed to a vertical loaf like other bread machines.

SHARK VACUUM – A vacuum is a vacuum, right?  Yeah, that’s what I used to think, too.  I used to use a canister upright and it did just fine.  But, it was heavy to carry up and down the stairs and hard to maneuver. I got this on Cyber Monday one year and was in love from the first use!  It is super light and sucks the dirt (and pet hair) up like a pro.  The dirt canister is a little smaller than my old one, so I have to empty it more often, but that’s an easy trade off in my opinion.  The Shark Vacuum is so light and easy to maneuver that it’s actually kind of fun to steer around.  Oh, and it converts to a hand vac.  Bonus!  My kids like to attach the regular vacuum head to it when it’s in “short mode” and then they can vacuum.  And it’s so light and easy that they are actually helpful when they are doing it, not just playing around.  I can’t recommend this vacuum enough.

STEAM MOP – We have 3 kids and 2 dogs, so I should mop way more than I actually do.  Mopping is such a pain – get the bucket of water, use some type of cleaner, the mop head gets so gross, you still have to scrub some spots where the baby spilled food…the list goes on.  This mop uses nothing expect water, so it is safe for using around your entire family. No getting a bucket full of water that just gets gross and you have to keep moving across the floor as you go.  Just fill up the water container, clip it in, and plug in the mop.  It starts automatically.  At first I thought the water cup was sort of small, but it is actually the perfect size and lasts for an entire room.  If you have a stubborn spot, just let the mop sit over top of it for a few seconds and the spot comes right up! I also feel like the floor dries faster, but maybe that’s just me.  And when you are done, just toss the mop head in the hamper, so you don’t have to mess with it.  I love this steam mop.

DISHWASHER SAFE NONSTICK PAN -I prefer to use cast iron or stainless steel pans when cooking, but sometimes I am making a recipe that just does so much better in a non-stick pan.  But, then it can’t go in the dishwasher.  Until now, that is!  This pan works just as well, if not better than the typical non-stock pans AND it can go right in the dishwasher.  I’ve had this for a a few years now and I have to say that I think it actually holds up better than the conventional non-stick pan.  Do your get scratches on them eventually?  Mine do, but this one has no scratches.  So, it’s non-stick, dishwasher safe, and more durable!  Definitely need to have one (or two) of these!

PINEAPPLE SLICER – This is just such a simple gadget, but saves so much time and mess. Pineapples are hard to cut.  This just carves down through the pineapple with a screwdriver type motion.  It makes the fruit into perfectly thick pieces in a big spiral and cuts the outer skin and inner core off as it goes.  Inexpensive, saves time and mess. You’ll love it! I use this one.
